Nail Mail - First Official Holo!

Finally, you've come along, the way I feel about you it just can't be wrong, If you only knew, the way I feel about you... I just can't describe it...

China Glaze - IDK

I have only entered the world of nail polish buying obsession to the max within the last several months.  As such, I missed the premier of the China Glaze OMG Collection back in 2009.  Now the polishes in this collection are hard to find, and if you do find them, you will pay a pretty penny.

I was browsing on eBay one night and came across a bottle of IDK.  No one else had bid on it yet so I immediately placed a bid, sure I would be outbid very quickly.  I went about my business and actually forgot all about the auction until I got an e-mail from eBay telling me I had won it!  Now I will admit that I paid more for this bottle of nail polish than any other that I own.  It was such an impulsive thing to do, placing that bid.  I was just so positive that someone else would out bid me, because I've bid unsuccesfully on other colors in this collection in the past.  And if I had known I'd win the auction at the price I bid, I'm not sure I would have even placed the bid in the first place. But, having won the auction, of course I paid for it and today it came in the mail.

Oh my word!  This polish, while maybe not worth the actual price I paid for it, (it's embarassing - I can't even bring myself to put it here), it's still absolutely GORGEOUS and I'm extremely glad that this beauty came to live with me!

I've had other polishes that professed to be "holographic," but none of them even come close to the amazing gorgeousness that is IDK.  I have so many ideas for nail art with this!  Look how it reflects light and turns different colors on the same nail!  Now of course it doesn't look quite as stunning just sitting here on my couch, but in the sunlight I know it will be amazeballs.  I can't wait to take this color out for a spin tomorrow!  Then, tomorrow night, I'm going to see what I can do for a nail art design featuring this color as the base.  It will probably involve tape.

Now I am wishing I had all the other colors in this collection!  But, there's no way I'd pay this much for any more of them.  I'm happy with the one I have, and I'll use it sparingly enough that it will last me quite a while.

Dorothy's Dress & Ruby Slippers

Orly - Snowcone, China Glaze - Ruby Pumps, Finger Paints - Santa Kisses

I attempted my first tape manicure today, but when I pulled the tape off it pulled off the base color and ruined it and I had no patience for trying again right now. I'll attempt it again this week I'm sure, especially since I bought 3 rolls of tape today!

After that fail, I decided it would be easier to do a tape mani on a base that I had already worn for a day, so I just did a coat of Snowcone and was going to leave it and try taping something tomorrow. But then the tiny little sample bottle of CG Ruby Pumps I got at Sally today for 99 cents started calling my name, begging to be tried. So I put it on my tips. I liked it but the Ruby Pumps looks a bit dull next to the blue, so I decided to put the FP Santa Kisses on top.

I originally put Matte about You on top of the blue, but after I added the tips I decided it would look better with a shiny finish, so I put a coat of Seche Vite on top. After I was finished I decided it reminded me of the color of Dorothy's dress and ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz. Now I want to watch it!
